lovely vintage stuff

all images from Spun Sugar Vintage.

i was so close to getting this pretty vintage dress on the right corner, but with just a second difference, someone else purchased it. i was sad because its vintage, which means its one of a kind.. i wished they had more than one!
i love this store, Spun Sugar Vintage.they have really lovely stuff for reasonable price. i like having a set price, rather than betting it like ebay. i usually miss the dead line, and end up not getting it. few of my favorites are the above..

Etsy upload today

i was finally able to update my etsy shop a bit today!

pink grapefruit maxi dress

i took these photos right outside of my apartment, all by myself... very silly and strange, if someone look at me. but andy was gone to Boston, and i had no choice! oh well.

i want to make harem pants!

i made a post about harem pants before, but after tying on the harem pants at h&m today, im convinced that i should make one! the one i sew at h&m was perfect - they were so comfy to wear, and surprisingly, my legs look much slimmer than they really are, i dont know why. they had them in black, gray, khaki and pink/purplish color, for $19 bucks. i know i should just buy them, but considering that i don't spend more than 5 dollars on a piece of clothes recently (except the furla bag), and next year, harem pants may not be in, i couldnt make up my mind.
so i did some research about how to make harem pants -
this website has a basic draft pattern that i may be able to follow..or this post about making pantaloones   ...
i want to make it in black to start off, not too too puffy one.
by the way, speaking of pants, i love this blog phi style! she has great pants style! i dont really wear pants, and since i wear and make dresses so much, i almost dont know how to wear pants stylishly...

all images are downloaded from phistyle.

p.s. the deadline for the white lacy kimono top giveaway is coming up in a week or so! enter to win the top here:)

stripe today

i just made this last night. im making a couple of things for a place in WI, called Brilliant Stranger. the shop owner, Dawn has a great shop on etsy too! she creates clothing out of vintage clothes or thrifted clothes, and turns them into completely unique and new.

this super mini stripe dress (or tunic) comes with a matching scarf:)

i used not to like stripe at all, but now i like it a lot!

two more to go!

polka dot

POLKA DOT!

made this skirt for my etsy shop over this weekend. very very easy! yet, comfy.
skirt part is basically a big square. any kind of square, depending on the length you want, and the width, as long as it is longer than your hip width.
then, you gather the top part with an elastic thread as your bobin thread, and regular thread for the upper thread. make a long loop for the waist band, and connect it together with the skirt part.

i layered the skirt so it's not sheer.

gladiator

i went to shopping with my coworker on friday lunch time, and i got these sandals:)
it has a zipper closure in the back, and from the front, i looks like you are wearing anklet.  they had them in gold and brown also, and i was deciding between black and gold. but ended up getting the black one. i always go for simpler, safer look...

top: recycled a maternity wear i got from flea market for a dollar. made it into a tunic!
leggings: Uniqulo
sandles: only 15 bucks!
bag: thrift store
earrings: H&M

jeans: purchased in japan a long time ago - no name brand
earrings and bangle: forever 21

Have a great weekend everyone!

from Thailand

when i came home last night, i found an envelop in my mail box, unsealed. the edge of the envelop was tucked in, but not sealed, and it came all the way from thailand!

the letter was from rahab ministry in thailand. i mentioned rahab ministry in my etsy profile, but 10% of the purchase you make at vivat veritas is given to rahab. they help support women in prostitution in thailand by providing other means to live. they teach them how to make jewlries and such. i have not yet met them personally, but i get news letters every month, and pray for them..
my husband and i went to thailand for honeymoon 2 and a half years ago. although we enjoyed ourselves there, it was also sad to see that sex trade is so prevalent, and sadly, japanese contribute to it very much. i heard that there is a secret tour trip to thailand for men to buy prostitutes and stuff.

the picture below is a thank you card that i received from them... so sweet!

andy and i are planning to go visit them in june, hopefully, it'll really happen!

bride's maid dress

i wish i took better pictures of this dress! i wish ive gone out side to take it. oh well.
i recently finished this bride's maid dress for one of my customers. she drew a picture of the dress she wanted, and i made it accordingly. it was a challenge, but good practice. it has a cap sleeve, and back covered in lace, since it is for a religious wedding. i liked the idea of matching the lace in the back with the waist band's lace. skirt part is slightly mermaid-sh. ive never made mermaid skirt, so i googled it. google is a wonderful thing!

L'Occitane

i'm super super stiff from the run yesterday, to the point that i'm reluctant to get up to go to bathroom. sewing, i can do, since i am sitting down when i sew.
so during lunch hour today, instead of going to gym, i went to sephora:p and here is what i got: Ultra Comforting Clensing Milk from L'Occitane. i used it already when i came home today, and i love it - its so mild for my sensitive skin, and doesnt dry out the skin after taking off make-up. im pretty pleased with the price too (it was $22), since if you were to buy the same product in Japan, it would have cost me about 40 bucks!

spring fashion gift guide

my black floral kimono top is on etsy's spring fashion gift guide now - check it out here:)
i made a couple different things over this weekend, which i will be uploading pics of in a few days... some will be available at my etsy shop, and some, im sending them to NY, where i consign.

by the way, i just ran the broad street run today! 10 miles - and i finished it in an hour and 31 mins. im exhausted, but feel good at the same time! this was my first long distance race.

Market Publique

I just found out about this online vintage auction, called Market Publique.
It basically works same as ebay, and you auction off the items you like. I heard that more and more people are getting sick of ebay, with their competition and high listing fees and stuff. I like Market Publique, since it's all vintage - when you are looking for something specific, it's pretty easy to find:)

I'm taking vacation in a month! I'm so excited. My husband and I are going back to Japan for two weeks. We are also considering going to Thailand as well. Price is so cheap in June in thailand. We went there for our honeymoon, and absolutely loved it.
