tagged

i was tagged by karen a while ago. i was meaning to do it, but im so bad at making a list about my self, so i kept delaying it... but tonight, im writing 7 things about myself.
here are 7 things that i love...

1) im addicted to peanut butter. anything with peanut butter in it, i can eat endlessly.
my favorits are nips peanut butter and reeses butter cups!
aw, when i googled "nips" to get an image, i happened to get pictures of many naked women.. oops.

2) kettlebell training:
its an exercise using the type of waight, called kettlebell. kettlebell looks like a kettle with handle, and you swing it, with both hands or one hand, do snaches...etc.
since i started going to the kettlebell class at gym, i think my body has changed a lot.
i started because my husband did it first. he was inspired by Gerald Butler in the movie, 300, who trained using kettlebell for the movie!

3) running
i used to HATE running, because its so hard. but for some reasons, im into it now. im training for broadstreet run in next may. its a 10 mile run.

4) im already running out of stuff to say... so i list my favorite blogs and website:

chelsea she posts her handmade clothes in her blog.. i love her style
静香のメイク日記 this is in japanese..she updates her make up, hairstyle and fashion stuff and ive been reading this for a while
Polyvore i can play with this site for hours!

5) im cooking turkey tomorrow!

6) i love hookah. i have one. its like a middle eastern version of tabacco. its nothing shady or scary, it's a type of tabacco with less nicotine in it, so not addictive. my favorite flavors are pineapple and kiwi!

7) last one!
my dream is to one day open up a small coffee shop/boutique.
a coffee shop that has had made section in the back, maybe? i love coffee!

green dress

i made this dress recently. i modified Malissa pattern from BurdaStyle.
i just cut the front panel in three: top, waist band and skirt. top and skirt are gathered with elastics, and added keyhole detail in front. thats it! pretty simple:)

absolute boyfriend

im so into this japanese drama, called "absolute boyfriend". in japanese, its called "zettai kareshi". its about a girl who buys a robot that's supposed to be a perfect boyfriend.
i know. im so dorkey.. but i just can't stop watching it!
im watching it from here

handmade underwear

thanks to verypurpleperson's this blog post, i figured out the way to use my fabric scraps. as you might know, i love using jersey fabrics... anything with stretch. so i can avoid zippers, and not have to worry about fitting so much.
as a starter, i made a boyfriend shorts using left over from this purple maxi dress. its cotton with stretch.

i got a pattern from my victoria secret underwear...using wrapping paper

cut out a fabric, two each.

and voila!

thank you verypurpleperson for inspiration!

started thinking about christmas gifts

today it my mother in law's birthday. i sent her this pair of japanese room wear, called zouri to her. she liked them very much, and wanted more for the rest of the family. i got them from this shop.
the shop owner and i are friends, and we also live a block away from each other. she has zouri in many different colors, and you can request the color you want also.

i like this shop, washable art also. i think these cute soaps will make a great gift for my coworkers.
SweetBody and Naiad are nice shops too. their soaps are much more reasonable than lush.

i will be shopping a lot from beautymarkbeads as well! i love her jewelries. there will be a sale at her shop around thanksgiving, which im looking forward to.

my weekend

weekends pass by so fast every weekend. i always wish it's longer than it is!
my friend Kaitlyn came over from NY on Friday. Andy, Kaitlyn and I all went to see the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace and i loved it! it didn't get a good review, so i wasn't sure what's going to look like, but i thought it was great. loved it.

then i finished making this dress for my sister's friend. she wanted it for a christmas party. i hope she'll like it. it's made out of little shinny satin, and lined.

then i went to the local thrift store and found these. $3 each!

i got a pair of black leather (i think it's real leather... but i might be wrong) for $4. i've already started wearing them. can't believe i got them so cheap! i havent taken a pic of them, but i will soon.

then andy and i took a long walk. we stop at this tea shop.
we had caramel chocolate tea and it was sooo good!

Sunday: ran 6 miles. im training for Broadstreet run.
then off to church:)

inspiration from japanese fashion

i love japanese fashions! whenever i get a chance, i buy japanese magazines like Sweet, Vivi, or CanCan. i found following dress and coats in one of the japanese websites... they all all so cute!

my malissa variation

Burdastyle had a Malissa variation contest about a month ago. i printed out the pattern, bought the fabric and i was going to enter the contest, but couldnt make the deadline. here i am, a month later, just finished malissa!

i cut out the front pattern in half. upper half is for the front panel, and down half is for the skirt. then i added wide waist band. i used the same for back, for back, i omitted a little keyhole detail. its so easy! i only needed 3 pattern pieces for this.

fabric is blue spandex mix stretch knit.

retro secretary skirt

I finally finished the Kasia skirt from Burdastyle! I think it came out really well. the pattern was almost like a puzzle, and i got confused since there were so many pieces. but i made it!
i cut the fabrics almost like a month or two ago, but couldn't finished it for a while since i had many other projects that i was working on.

i can think of so many different variation of this skirt that i want to try in the future.
the first one that i want to try is made out of black cotton lycra mix, and take out the button detail and front panel, but instead, attach a sash. so you can tie it in the front or side. i think that would go so well with shirt when you go to work.
