Bali trip

My husband and I went to a short 3 day trip to Bali, Indonesia. This was the first time we went to Bali, and we both loved it there!
Nice beach with great waves. We tried surfing for the first time. I got a lot of scratches and bruises on my legs, but I enjoyed it very much. I would definitely try again this summer.

Soto Ayam - My favorite Indonesian dish! I love any kind of noodles in soup. Went to Monkey Forest in Ubud and fed the cute monkeys. One of them actually attached me because he found that I was hiding more bananas in my pocket. I guess he smelt it..

Hotel pool
People were really nice and helpful there. I didn't have to argue with cab drivers to use meter, like I always had to do in Thailand.
People asked us if we were on Honeymoon. Although we've been married for 3 and a half years, it felt as though it was our second Honeymoon. I'm so sad that my vacation is over now:(

Bye Bali!

Lemon yellow bride's maid dresses

This was what I was working on last week. 5 bride's maid dresses! It feels like I've accomplished something, and I feel pretty good about it. Actually, it wasn't all that hard once I got on it, I made a mini production line - I cut all the fabric at the same time, iron at the same time and surged at the same time and finished them:)
I have made bride's maid dress before, but this was the first time I made five. I feel so honored to have asked to do such an important task as to make bridal parties dresses!

Sorry for my messy hair... I didn't realize it until I saw the photos on Photoshop. It was raining all day long here, plus, I had such a long day today running around to get my work done.

Some shop updates

Did a small update on a shop! Check it out:)
This week has been crazy busy with my real work, and I'm so glad it's Friday! Two more days of work next week, and I'm off to Bali. I've never been there, so I'm pretty excited!

making, packing and mailing

I'm sure you are sick of seeing this cut out back dress by now. I don't even remember how many of them I made so far! I promise I will post something else soon, I have a lot of different ideas for new dress designs, and I am actually sketching the designs (which is pretty rare for me, lazy..), and I also want to do a post on a list of fabric shops in Philly.

But for now, I'm sewing, ironing, cutting our fabrics, ironing again, then packing and mailing! Packing the completed dresses is my favorite part of the whole thing. I love the sense of accomplishment.

Happy mother's day! and strawberry picking

Happy Mother's day! My mom, husband and I went to a strawberry picking on Saturday.
It was at a nearby farm, and we ate and ate and ate looooots of strawberries! I was so full by the end.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Becky's cut out dress

Becky posted about how she used some of my work for inspiration :) Needless to say I was flattered! Today I saw the pictures and was realy impressed. I think from now on I should use her stuff to inspire me!!!! The open back layout I have recently become a huge fan of and the hat is too adorable. I can't wait to see what she puts out next.

Check out her other creation here and her blog here.

May! Sunny days! and Flowers!

In Japan, we call a person who always get rain on dates, events or any important days "Ame Onna" - "Rain woman". It is as if the person brings the rain with her to wherever she goes.
Luckily, I think I'm the opposite.."Hare Onna" - sunny woman! As soon as I get back to Japan, we started to get sunny weather.. hehe:p Maybe it's just a coincidence, but still, sunny weather makes me happy. The past couple of days has been just beautiful!

Here is what I made and added to the shop recently. You can tell that I'm obsessed with open back?! I did something different for the dress on the top. I cut it differently and added a row of buttons for closure. I bought both fabrics in Philly.

Top: Back buttons dress
Bottom: Cut out dress
